2022 Meeting Minutes

The 2022 business meeting of the North Carolina Religious Studies Association (NCRSA) was held Saturday, October 29 on the campus of UNC Pembroke. The meeting was called to order at 12:30 by Mordechai Inbari, President. John Brooks, secretary, recorded the proceedings.

Dr. Inbari, who served as local arrangements chair as well as president, welcomed members to the meeting. He presented an award to Dr. David Nikkel, chair of the UNC-Pembroke Department of Philosophy and Religion, who would be retiring at the end of the year. Dr. Nikkel was a longtime member and supporter of the NCRSA.

Dr. Reed, Program Chair, presented the awards for student presentations. The undergradate award went to Claire Kennedy, the graduate award to John Kluh.

The minutes of the 2021 meeting were reviewed and approved.

Dr. Brooks, treasurer, reported that the NCRSA had expenditures of $350 and receipts of $272 for a new balance of $817.80.

Dr. P. Eddy Wilson, editor of Thinking About Religion, reported on the status of the journal.

Officers were elected. Dr. Reed, as Program Chair, automatically became President for another year. Dr. Paul Boaheng agreed to serve as Program Chair for 2023. Dr. Brooks reported that UNC Chapel Hill had agreed to host the meeting for 2023. The members decided to accept the offer.

The meeting was adjourned at 1:00 p.m.
