2025 Business Meeting Minutes

The 2025 business meeting of the North Carolina Religious Studies Association (NCRSA) was held Saturday, November 1 on the campus of UNC Chapel Hill. The meeting was called to order at 11:30 a.m. by Dr. Paul Wilson, President. John Brooks, secretary, recorded the proceedings.

Dr. Randall Reed, Program Chair, presented the award for student presentation. The undergraduate award went to Isaac Watkins of UNC Chapel Hill. There was no graduate award.

The minutes of the 2024 meeting were reviewed and approved.

Dr. Brooks, treasurer, reported that the NCRSA had expenditures of $339 and receipts of $340 for a new balance of $860.19.

Dr. P. Eddy Wilson, editor of Thinking About Religion, reported on the status of the journal.

Officers were elected. Dr. Reed, as Program Chair, automatically became President. He confirmed that Appalachian State had agreed to host the meeting for 2026. The members decided to accept the offer. Dr. Paul Boaheng agreed to serve as Program Chair. Dr. John Brooks agreed to continue to serve as secretary-treasurer.

The meeting was adjourned at 12:30 p.m.
