The 2024 business meeting of the North Carolina Religious Studies Association (NCRSA) was held Saturday, November 2 on the campus of Fayetteville State University. The meeting was called to order at 12:00 p.m. by Dr. Paul Boaheng, President. John Brooks, secretary, recorded the proceedings.
Dr. Marcus Cox, Dean of the College of Humanities and Social Science, welcomed members to the meeting.Â
Dr. Randall Reed, Program Chair, presented the awards for student presentations. The undergraduate award went to Emma Smith of UNC Greensboro. Jerry Grimes of UNC Chapel Hill received the graduate award.
The minutes of the 2023 meeting were reviewed and approved.
Dr. Brooks, treasurer, reported that the NCRSA had expenditures of $406 and receipts of $400 for a new balance of $839.90.
Dr. P. Eddy Wilson, editor of Thinking About Religion, reported on the status of the journal.
Officers were elected. Dr. Reed, as Program Chair, automatically became President. Dr. Brooks reported that UNC Chapel Hill had agreed to host the meeting for 2025. The members decided to accept the offer. Dr. Reed offered to host the 2026 meeting at Appalachian State University. The members accepted that offer as well.
The meeting was adjourned at 12:30 p.m.
